The franchise disclosure register is administered by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).
The purpose of the register is to:
- increase franchisor transparency
- give people access to franchise disclosure information
- help potential franchise buyers, current franchisees and their advisers make informed business decisions.
The register operates in addition to other information disclosure obligations under the Franchising Code of Conduct. If you’re a franchisor, you must understand all your disclosure obligations. Failure to comply may lead to penalties.
The register or the Australian Government does not endorse any franchisor. Franchise information on the register is provided by franchisors. The register is only as accurate as the information provided.
Read the register’s terms of use.

Current form and manner
Following a consultation period with franchisors, on 30 March 2026, the ACCC has decided to publish a new form which changes the way franchisors are required to provide information to the franchise disclosure register.
The new form and the manner in which information is to be provided to the franchise disclosure register applies to all franchisors who create a new franchise profile or update their existing profile on the franchise disclosure register.

Background
The Competition and Consumer (Industry Code – Franchising) Regulations 2024, known as the Franchising Code of Conduct, requires a franchise disclosure register to be available on the internet and accessible without charge.
The franchising code requires most franchisors to have a profile for each franchise system on the register and to publish information about the franchise. New franchisors must join the register and have a profile at least 14 days before entering into any franchise agreements.
Paragraphs 92(3)(a) and 93(3)(a) of the Franchising Code of Conduct require franchisors to provide information to be included on the franchise disclosure register in a form and manner approved by the Chairperson of the ACCC in writing.
