Understand if franchising is for you
It’s important you understand how franchising works. You need to know the laws, the business, the risks and challenges.
We recommend you:
Report a franchising issue
The ACCC accepts and records information about business practices and behaviours that are concerning to you. It doesn’t give legal advice or resolve individual franchising disputes.
Information from reports helps the ACCC understand the big issues in franchising.
Research a franchise before you buy
If you're thinking about buying a franchise, use the register to find information about the franchise system.
If a franchisor is not on the register, you should be careful before handing over any money or signing any documents from them. They are unlikely to be a legitimate franchise system and may even be a scam.
Read the ACCC’s guide about how you can stay protected from scams.
